Three descriptions of the Presence of the Lord:

I. Omnipresence –

The Omnipresence – omni means “all” —“presence or present” OR in other words, God is everywhere at the same time.

A. It is NOT possible to “leave” the omnipresence of the Lord.

Psalm 139:7 “Where can I go from Your Spirit?

Or where can I flee from Your presence?”

II. The Inner Presence –

A. In the Old Testament The Holy Spirit could be with or on a person, but in the New Testament The Holy Spirit could be within a person.

John 14:16-17And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—

v.17 the Spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees Him nor knows Him: but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”

III. The Manifest Presence –

A. The Word ‘Manifest’ means “made known,” “Realized,” “Tangible,” or “Sensed Spiritually”-

“We need to seek God’s presence and one of those places should be in the Church, it is not the only place, but it is the easiest place to experience it.”

B. Were there Old Testament examples of this?

Genesis 3:7-8Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.

v.8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool (wind or breeze) of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord Godamong the trees of the garden.”

Genesis 4:16 “then Cain (after he had killed Abel) went out from the presence of the Lord.”

Jonah 1:3 “Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.”

C. New Testament Examples –

Jesus was manifested for two purposes:

I John 3:5 “He was manifested to take away our sins”

I John 3:8 “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”

I Peter 1:20 “He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you.”

The Promise

Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
