1 Corinthians 13:11-12 (NKJ)

  1. Speak / Think / Understanding
  2. Adults put away childish ways.
    1. Trojan horse = Malware (malicious + software)
    2. Virus on a computer
    3. Unwittingly accepting corrupt files (trojan)
  3. Immaturity accepts things that can corrupt.
    1. Deception
    2. Division
    3. Defeat
    4. Default

Hebrews 5:11-14 (NKJV)

  • Verse 11 – “Dull of hearing”
    • AMPC – “…you have become dull and sluggish in your spiritual hearing and disinclined to listen”
    • Passive listeners versus lean-in listeners.
  • Verse 14 (ESV) – “But solid food is for the mature for those who have their power of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.”
    • Discerning good from evil / truth from lies / God from Satan / Christ from Antichrist.

Romans 12:2 (ESV)

  • You may discern the will of God, what is good, what is acceptable, what is perfect.

1 Corinthians 3:1-9 (NKJV)

  • Verse 3 – Envy, strife, and division = Immaturity.
    • Proverbs 13:10 (ref)
    • Pride = self-centered (babies)
    • Their immaturity wasn’t having a favorite speaker.
      • It wasn’t receiving God’s word from others.
      • Dull of hearing
    • They were looking at men instead of God who gives the increase.

1 Corinthians 1:10-13 (NKJV)

  • Speak the same thing
  • Same mind
  • Same judgment
  • (I’m of Paul / I’m of Apollos / I’m of Cephas / I’m of Christ)
  • Is Christ divided?
  • We need to hear from them all; not just one.

Maturity is being able to receive all God has, through anyone who speaks God’s word.

Philippians 1:12-18 (ESV)

God’s word, regardless of the vessel, changes lives for the good if mixed with faith.
