Relationship with Holy Spirit
Everybody wants a dad like God.
Romans 8:15 NKJV 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba,[a] Father.”
Abba, Father (TITLE)
Is “Abba” Aramaic for “Daddy?”
Abba, or Father, is the most important word you will ever utter.
So, what does Abba mean?
Abba means, “Father, I will obey you.”
1. Authority
Mark 14:36 NKJV 36 And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”
Holy Spirit is cultivating within us as we cooperate with him, both intimacy with and obedience to the Father.
1 Samuel 15:22 NKJV But Samuel replied: “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.
Mathew 7:21-23 NKJV 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me.”
In Holy Spirit we have supernatural help to nurture both intimacy with and obedience to the Father.
2. Anointing
You are anointed for the work of the ministry.
The anointing is the power of God for any given situation.
Luke 4:18-19 NKJV “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
So how do we walk in our God-given anointing?
Matthew 3:13-17 NKJV When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and [a]He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
The anointing of the Holy Spirit flows through sonship.
Orphans compare their anointing to others; sons just walk in it.
3. Access
Romans 8:16-17 NKJV 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
You have access to a supernatural inheritance.
Deuteronomy 18:2 NKJV “The priests, the Levites—all the tribe of Levi—shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel; they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and His portion. Therefore, they shall have no inheritance among their brethren; the LORD is their inheritance, as He said to them.”
How does Holy Spirit tend Abba’s authority, anointing, and access within us?

- Holy Spirit reveals things to us. John 16:13
- Holy Spirit helps us to worship. John 16:14
