5 Words of admonition
- These people say it’s not time to rebuild my house. (From Hag 1:2)
- Is it time for you to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins? From (Hag 1:4)
- Consider your ways (From Hag 1:5,7)
- ‘You have sown much, and harvested little. You eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm. And he who earns wages does so to put them into a bag with holes. You looked for much, and behold, it came to little. And when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why? declares the Lord of hosts. Because of my house that lies in ruins, while each of you busies himself with his own house.’ (From Hag 1:6,9)
- Haggai 1:6 “You eat, but you never have enough; you drink but never have your fill. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm.” Jesus in
- Matthew 6:31-33 “Therefore do not be anxious, saying, That shall we eat or What shall we drink or What shall we wear. For the gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you.”
- Do you seek first or forget first the kingdom of God?
- Go up to the hills and bring wood and build the house that I may take pleasure in it and that I may be glorified. (From Hag 1:8)
6 Words of encouragement
- (v. 2:4) Be strong… work
- (v. 2:4, 5) I am with you and My Spirit still remains
- (v. 2:5) Fear not
- (v. 2:7, 8) I will shake all nations, so that the treasures of all nations shall come in and I will fill this house with glory. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine.
