- Speak / Think / Understanding
- Adults put away childish ways.
- Trojan horse = Malware (malicious + software)
- Virus on a computer
- Unwittingly accepting corrupt files (trojan)
- Immaturity accepts things that can corrupt.
- Deception
- Division
- Defeat
- Default
Hebrews 5:11-14 (NKJV)
- Verse 11 – “Dull of hearing”
- AMPC – “…you have become dull and sluggish in your spiritual hearing and disinclined to listen”
- Passive listeners versus lean-in listeners.
- Verse 14 (ESV) – “But solid food is for the mature for those who have their power of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.”
- Discerning good from evil / truth from lies / God from Satan / Christ from Antichrist.
Romans 12:2 (ESV)
- You may discern the will of God, what is good, what is acceptable, what is perfect.
1 Corinthians 3:1-9 (NKJV)
- Verse 3 – Envy, strife, and division = Immaturity.
- Proverbs 13:10 (ref)
- Pride = self-centered (babies)
- Their immaturity wasn’t having a favorite speaker.
- It wasn’t receiving God’s word from others.
- Dull of hearing
- They were looking at men instead of God who gives the increase.
1 Corinthians 1:10-13 (NKJV)
- Speak the same thing
- Same mind
- Same judgment
- (I’m of Paul / I’m of Apollos / I’m of Cephas / I’m of Christ)
- Is Christ divided?
- We need to hear from them all; not just one.
Maturity is being able to receive all God has, through anyone who speaks God’s word.
Philippians 1:12-18 (ESV)
God’s word, regardless of the vessel, changes lives for the good if mixed with faith.
