PRESENT FOR THE FUTURE

Pastor Mark Carrillo

MINDSET — A fixed mental attitude or disposition that predetermines a person’s responses to and interpretations of situations.

“You’re the average of the five people you hang around the most”
“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will sufferharm.” (Proverbs 13:20, ESV)

Current Lifestyle + Current Thinking = Present Problems

Differences between the mindsets of the poor and the wealthy:
Which is bigger, your TV or your library?
THOMAS CORLEY — Did a five-year study of the daily habits of the rich and poor
He came to this conclusion: your daily habits are responsible for your financial circumstances. 88% of the wealthy read 30 minutes or more each day vs. 2% for the poor.

“Now Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.” (Genesis 13:2, ESV)

“And Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. The LORD blessed him, and the man became rich, and gained more and more until he became very wealthy.” (Genesis 26:12-13, ESV)

“He who cultivates his land will have plenty of bread, But he who follows worthless people and frivolous pursuits will have plenty of poverty.” (Proverbs 28:19 AMP)

POVERTY LIVES FOR TODAY; WEALTH LEAVES A LEGACY

Cheapest way or the Best Way

“PRESENT FOR THE FUTURE”

You break the cycle of poverty by sacrificing today’s comfort for tomorrow’s prosperity. Most people work for money, a wealthy person’s money works for them.
Car payments and Credit Card Debt are not Conducive to Building Wealth.

PROSPERITY IN YOUR LIFE IS ACTIVATED BY GIVING, NOT BY RECEIVING.

If you underestimate your ability to give, you will undermine your capacity to receive.
If you don’t like what you’re reaping, check out what you’re sowing!
We are all blessed; it’s generosity that determines the level of blessing you experience.

“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:6-7, ESV)

Giving what you can give is the start of being able to give everything you want to give. YOUR REPETITION BECOMES YOUR REPUTATION.

“Don’t be under any illusion: you cannot make a fool of God! A man’s harvest in life will depend entirely on what he sows. If he sows for his own lower nature his harvest will be the decay and death of his own nature. But if he sows for the Spirit he will reap the harvest of everlasting life by that Spirit.” (Galatians 6:9-10, Phillips)

BREAKING HINDERING MINDSETS

In order to change the economic level in your life, you have to give when you are in need, when it’s inconvenient, and when you don’t feel like it.

“One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.” (Proverbs 11:24-25, ESV)

NLT – “The generous will prosper . . . “
